Mission of the Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten program: Our mission is to provide a nurturing, loving and educational environment for the preschool age child. The opportunity is presented for the young child to grow spiritually, emotionally and academically.
We purpose:
· To provide a Christian environment for the nurturing of children.
· To guide the child to a knowledge of God.
· To provide an opportunity for
companionship and friendship other young children.
· To inspire creativity through music, art, and play.
· To develop a sense of wonder and investigation of nature and science.
· To introduce a child to the techniques of learning.
· To introduce the child to the joy of children’s learning.
· To provide for the development of both small and large motor skills.
We do this through an age-appropriate curriculum that covers Bible stories, music and movement, science, language, art, math and reading readiness. To add variety to our curriculum we have different themes for each week (transportation, feelings, seasons, community helpers, etc.). We also have time set aside each day for learning centers which allow the children to choose their learning environment. Children also have an opportunity for outside play where they can develop their large motor skills.
Curriculum overview:
Bible: The aim of Bible in Pre-Kindergarten is to begin to establish Bible knowledge and principles of Christian living. Through Bible stories the child will see that God is creator, that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, and that Jesus Christ is the Lord. The child will also be encouraged to have a heart of compassion for others.
Language Arts: The goals of language arts are to establish the skills and concepts which lay the foundation for reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We introduce letters and print awareness; encourage an appreciation of literature; and introduce pre-writing skills and letter recognition. Course content includes reading, handwriting, speaking skills, listening skills and thinking skills.
Mathematics: The aim of the mathematics program in Pre-Kindergarten is to develop the foundation of an understanding of the patterns of mathematics through the use of manipulatives. Free exploration of manipulatives is an essential part of the program. The activities are designed to help the child see the relationship between mathematical concepts and the orderliness of God’s world. Course content includes numeration, money, measurement, problem solving, geometry, and graphing.
Science: Science for the 4-year old program is to introduce the child to the wonders of God’s creation. Through the study of living and non-living organisms the child develops skills in vocabulary, observation, prediction, and thinking. Course content includes senses, body, seasons/weather, color, ocean life, dinosaurs, animals, seeds/plants, health, magnets, and insects.
Social Studies: The goal of the social studies program for 4-year olds is to introduce the child to an understanding of himself in relationship to others and to broaden the child’s awareness of the world around him. Through the study of holiday’s, families, community helpers, transportation, and past Americans, the child will see that God has a plan in history. Social studies is integrated into other areas of the curriculum.
Spanish: Students are introduced to 4 skills
necessary in acquiring a second language; listening, speaking, associating, and memorizing. Students are exposed to culture, songs, games, music, food, and fun. The goal of this course is to develop a desire to learn a second language while learning different vocabularies. Students attend Spanish class twice a week.
Music: Students participate in music in their classroom on a weekly basis.

Students will learn to appreciate the resources in a library and their responsibility for caring for it. The focus of the library is knowledge, teaching and learning.
Computers are introduced in the Pre-Kindergarten rooms. Students during free play time may access games and educational programs on the classroom computer.
Art and crafts are integrated into every aspect of the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum to develop large and small motor skills and appreciation.
