Marcus Cooper

Coach Cooper had the privilege of being our first ever Cornhole coach in 2023. Coach Cooper is also teaching middle and high school math here at PVCP. Being able to love and encourage each of his students through not only being their teacher, but also as their coach is the highest honor. Coach Cooper is originally from Olympia, Washington and moved to Phoenix in 2020 to attend school at GCU. Since then, he has grown to love the city of Phoenix and PVCP.

Coach Cooper has held numerous positions during his time in Washington coaching in different capacities. He has coached youth soccer for the YMCA, as well as coached youth basketball and volunteered at many basketball camps. This is what Coach Cooper has to say about coaching our athletes at PVCP.

“I have been an athlete my whole life, with basketball and football being my main sports. My coaching resume is not noticeably long, but being an athlete my whole life and coaching in the capacities I listed have only grown my love for sport and the ability to express the competitive drive that every human has.

Building relationships with the students the Lord has placed in my life to guide and walk with is already something I wake up with a grateful heart for. But, to be able to carry that privilege into after school hours as their coach is something I can never grow tired of and want to continue to do in whatever capacity that looks like. For me, that has looked like being the Cornhole coach. It has been such a fun and wild ride and I can't believe I was able to build relationships through the fun yet competitive game of cornhole with the student-athletes I was able to.”

We are grateful to have Coach Cooper on our staff and are excited to see what other roles he will fill in the future!
